[Repeated from Tuesday 6.30pm.] Mark Aitken examines a photographer, a single photo, or a period of work through a subtext of sounds, words and music. In 1966, the South African photographer Ernest Cole left his home for New York, never to return. Buried within the layers of clothes in his suitcase were images of the lives of Africans under the Apartheid regime. Magnum photos assisted in getting Cole's book, The House of Bondage published. As a result he remained an exile until his death in 1990. With special guest Vaughan Pilikian.
